The tradition of homemade cosmetics has been part of many cultures around the world. It is beneficial for your skin and you also know what exactly goes in it. Natural makeup products are also environment friendly. Homemade products also save you a lot of money. Homemade makeup kit or products give you lot of flexibility in creating your own and unique personalized natural makeup products.

There is a major disadvantage in natural makeup products that there shelf life is not long because it is free from any chemicals and preservatives.

Here are some easy DIY recipes to create your own homemade makeup kit. Here we give you recipes of different home made makeup products. They all are generalized recipes you can increase or decrease the quantity as per your skin type and requirement.

1. Primer 

  • 1 tbsp Aloe vera gel + 3 tbsps water + 2 drops of almond oil.
    Suggested use: Use it within a week as it contains water. Apply it on a clean dry face and leave it on for 5-10 mins and let your skin absorb. Good for dry-normal skin.
  • 1/4 tsp Arrowroot powder + 1/4 tsp kaolin clay + 2 tsp aloe vera gel
    Apply a thin layer using foundation brush let it dry and absorb it in your skin.
    Do a patch test before application.

2. Foundation

  • 1tsp for dark skin or 1 tbsp for light skin Arrowroot powder/rice bran+ Slowly add a combination or one of the cinnamon powder+cocoa powder+ nutmeg powder until you reach your desired skin tone.

*If you want more yellow undertone you can add a pinch of turmeric powder and for pink undertone add pinch of beetroot powder.

Mix 5 drops of Almond/olive/jojoba oil to make it a liquid foundation. Add more if needed.

For lighter consistency you can add any facial moisturiser.

3. Blush

  • Blush tint

Boil beetroot in 1/2 cup water and cover the container. Let it boil on sim until beetroot leaves its colour, and the quantity decreases to half.

  • Strain and put it in an airtight container.

Suggested use: Take tint on fingers and blend quickly before it sets.

  • Blush powder- 1 tbsp hibiscus powder/ beetroot powder

Add vaseline to make cream blush

Add 5 drops of oil to make it a pressed powder.

4. Contour 

  • Use a contour brush to pick up the cocoa powder and contour it on different areas of face

5. Highlighter 

  • Gold dust powder/ mica pearl pigments

Use any powder brush to highlight.

6. Lipstick

1 tsp beeswax + 1/4tsp coconut oil + 1/2 tsp shea butter

In a double boiler mix all three ingredients well until melted.

To this base use different pigments for different colours. Some of the options are as follows:

Beetroot powder for berry colour

Cinnamon/cocoa/nutmeg in different quantities for various shades of brown.

Hibiscus powder for shades of pink.

You can also mix beetroot powder, hibiscus powder, cocoa powder, nutmeg powder, cinnamon powder, turmeric powder to create different and unique shades of your own.
